During the last 30 years I have taught in a wide range of contexts. Having developed my music teaching in schools my contribution was recognised in being selected to visit Seattle, USA to work in a number of schools as part of the Teacher International Development Programme, in association with the British Council. This broadened my experience further and gave me more opportunities to develop my teaching skills. My proven success in teaching and preparing students for exams at all levels has led to me gaining a thorough knowledge of the various exam syllabuses and assessment processes. I subsequently moved into school leadership and worked for a number of years as Deputy Headteacher in a large high school.
During my career, teaching on a one-to-one basis has remained a constant aspect of my work as it is an area of teaching which I particularly enjoy.
My teaching approach and philosophy:
I teach piano, organ, violin, music theory and composition. I teach absolute beginners as well as professional musicians working towards elite qualifications. My approach is very thoughtful, patient and considered, but my lessons are fun. I tailor my teaching to the individual needs of students whilst at the same time giving consistent, active support ensuring progress and enjoyment.
My years of experience have given me substantial knowledge and skills to work with students of all ages, ability and experience. Full consultation is the starting point when working with new pupils and this remains an ongoing aspect so that there is an ease and clarity to learning and progress. Whether my pupils complete grade exams or prefer to learn within a different structure I will accommodate their
needs and approach their tuition in the same, careful manner.
Fees and arrangements:
I have a teaching base near Worsley or I am willing to travel to your home.
